Description
Pierre Jeanneret, PJ-TA-04-A “square” table
A fine example of Pierre Jeanneret’s approach to functionalist and aesthetic furniture, the PJ-TA-04-A, also known as the “square table”. It was made for the famous Chandigarh project in India, directed by Le Corbusier’s cousin Pierre Jeanneret and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Made from solid teak, the table features a sturdy construction, designed for use through the ages, with a clean, seemingly simple and graceful aesthetic. Minor restorations were carried out on the tabletop in its previous life, as shown in the photos, which we have decided to leave as is, as a testament to the passage of time and the original purpose for which the table was made: to be used and regarded as a functional object. Traces of use and patina of time, excellent structural condition. India, C.1959.
